SA ranks 17th in list of top 20 ‘up-and-coming’ economies
A US-based website has published a list of ‘up and coming’ economies, in which South Africa ranks 17th. This is good news for South African, where business confidence is at an all-time low, and South Africans who are fed up with load shedding. The website www.USNews.com, has a tradition of ranking countries according to different criteria, including the most trusted countries, best countries for education, best countries for green living, best countries for women to live in, best countries to retire comfortably, best countries to invest in and best countries to start a business.
The table to the left shows the list of the top 20 ‘up and coming economies, as published by US News.
The dominant news on the US News website was and analysis of the world’s most trusted nations; a good deal of attention was focused on the fact that that trust in the US had dropped by more than 50% since 2016, the sharpest drop of any country assessed in the 2020 Best Countries report. The United Kingdom experienced the second-greatest drop in the world’s trust since 2016. In the most trusted nations list, Canada is perceived to be the world’s most trustworthy country, according to the report, a position the nation has held since the annual global survey first released in 2016.
